1646 is a project-space for contemporary art. A dedicated space for experimental art practices and ideas, 1646 is a platform for productions and presentations of contemporary art, with special emphasis on encouraging artists to realise new work and projects.
1646’s Residency offers artists & curators the possibility to stay and work/research at 1646 for a period of up to two months. The focus is put on research rather than working towards a final result and in the presence and interaction with the context of 1646, The Hague and The Netherlands at large.
All residents are asked to organise at least one public event, which can take very divers forms, to present their research to the audience.
1646 provides a room very close to the gallery, with private cooking facilities, internet and shared toilet/shower.
20m2 studio to work, located within 1646 venue. The studio has internet and artists can make use of 1646’s technical facilities such as tools and technical equipment.
