Over the years TransArtists has initiated many projects and activities, often in collaboration with partners all over the world. Since 2013 we continue these activities as the TransArtists desk in DutchCulture, centre for international cooperation.

Here you will find an overview of our main projects. It is a dynamic and alive archive, because we build our current projects on the experiences of former projects.

We invite you to use this archive as a resource of different ways to relate to and stimulate the artist-in-residence phenomenon worldwide.

2010 - 2013 Mutual artist-in-residence Impulse, Netherlands-Russia

With Russian partners DutchCulture|TransArtists developed a long term collaboration to exchange experiences and give impulse to the artist-in-residence potential in both countries.

In 2010 Russian artist-in-residence initiators took the lead by inviting us to participate in a great 3-day symposium in Senezh and Moscow. This generated the Mutual Impulse project, which lasted till the end of 2013. It was an adventurous program of visits, expert meetings, symposia, and workshops in Russia & the Netherlands, with a lot of partners involved and many fruitful connections up till the present day.

2010-2012: ON-AiR, Europe

Together with partner organizations throughout Europe TransArtists (now DutchCulture|TransArtists) developed a trajectory of workshops and training programs for artists on artist-in-residence opportunities.

Throughout the ON-AiR project, 18 workshops were organized and developed in close co-operation with the local partner organizations. You will find all the regional information compiled by the local ON-AiR partner on the ON-AiR website. Experiences and visions were gathered in the ON-AiR book: "Reflecting on the mobility of artists in Europe".

2010: AiR Treffen 1, Germany

What's going on around the corner? That question was the start of AiR Treffen 2010, a developmental project with Kunsthaus Essen and Künstlerhaus Dortmund, resulting in a meeting for and about AiR-organizations from the Netherlands and the Ruhr area.

European Pépinières Programme for Young Artists

Till 2013 TransArtists coordinated the Dutch contribution to the European Pépinières Program for Young Artists. The program offered a residency to artists under 36 years old. The application was set up as an international competition. Dutch laureates were offered a grant for a working period elsewhere in Europe and Québec in Canada, and vice versa, laureates from Europe and Québec were offered a grant for a working period in the Netherlands.

DutchCulture|TransArtists is still partner in this exchange project but the actual participation of the Netherlands is on hold as we are looking for the financial means to restart the participation of the Netherlands in this EU wide residency exchange project for young artists.
